The core aspect of marketing is to understand the needs of your customers’ and plan your campaign to hem in on them.
After all, anyone with a business has the desire to make that business better. The best way to encourage growth and expansion within your business is to focus on organic growth.
Organic growth can be increased in four different ways.
These are:
– Bringing in more customers
– Encouraging each customer to buy more of your products
– Entice your customers to buy the more expensive products, (up selling)
– Getting each of your customers to buy more profitable products
These four points will obviously increase your revenue and profit. So let’s focus on the first point, which is to bring in more customers. Why? Because acquiring more customers’ will increase your customer base and therefore will increase your revenue.
So how can you use marketing to help bring in more customers?
– Make sure you do your research and create a key marketing plan.
– Develop your products to appeal to the customers you aren’t currently enticing.
– Make sure all your products and services are priced competitively.
The Importance of a Target Market in Small Business
You need to bear in mind the influence of target marketing when it comes to your customers’. Since only a small portion of the population purchase products, this is an important marketing tool. By making sure you focus your sales and marketing toward the correct niche marketing then you will not be wasting your efforts and be more productive. The more targeted you are with your marketing the cheaper it wil be to bring in the returns you are looking for.
The are big difference between Small Business Marketing and Large Business Marketing
If like almost all small businesses your marketing budget is limited, so every penny counts. The most effective way to market a small business is to devise a campaign which allows you to compete with the big players, to do this you must think creative. Here’s some ideas which should even out the playing field slightly to make you feel less intimidated by your competitors with bigger budgets.
Small businesses typically have a limited marketing budget if any at all. Does that mean you can’t run with the big dogs? Absolutely not. It just means you have to think a little more creatively.
How about getting to know local customers on a personal level, you could try doing one of the following:
– Call your vendors or associates and ask them to participate with you in co-op advertising.
– Take some time to send your existing customers’ referrals and buying incentives.
– Have you thought about introducing yourself to the media? Free publicity has the potential to boost your business. By doing this you position yourself as an expert in your field.
– Invite people into your place of business by piggybacking onto an event. Is there something of interest going on in your local town where you could invite potential customers along on a guest invitation?. This doesn’t have to be a business related event, the more relaxed this is, the more you are likely to get to know your visitors. In fact ask them to bring their family along and befriend them on a personal level, if it works out and you can get along with them, then they would potentially be a customer for life.
